Contest open to NKBA members, kitchen and bath designers, NKBA students and kitchen and bath design students (US & Canada)
Judging criteria and deadlines
- Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Visual appeal
- Creativity
- Innovation
- Overall kitchen workflow
- Design elements/principles
- Integration of appliances (must be GE Monogram® or GE Profile™ brand appliances—photograph must show at least one GE brand primary cooking appliance or refrigerator)
- Designs must have been constructed within the year prior to December 16, 2007.
- All entries must be submitted and postmarked by December 15, 2007.
Kitchen design rules
- Each entry must include the following:
- Completed official entry form
- Copy of floor plan
- Unframed/unmounted drawings
- Minimum of three, maximum of eight, unmounted color photographs of completed design (for best representation of your design, we recommend the use of a professional photographer)
- Brief design statement/project overview (no more than 500 words)
- Personal ID should not appear on drawings or photographs
- All entries must be mailed in a flat envelope. DO NOT send in a tube mailer.
- Do not place entry materials in binders or portfolios.
Celebrity kitchen design rules
- All entries must include the celebrity's signature certifying that GE may use his/her name, personal photograph, and kitchen photography with non-exclusive rights for future promotional, public relations and education purposes.
- Judges have sole discretion to determine eligibility in the celebrity kitchen category.
Individual student concept rules
- Each entry must include the following:
- Completed official entry form
- Copy of floor plan
- Unframed/unmounted drawings
- Brief design statement/project overview (no more than 500 words)
- Personal ID should not appear on drawings or photographs
Student charette scholarships
- If you are an educator and would like more information on this exciting one-day design event, please contact GEStudentDesignContest@ge.com to register and receive your charette kit. Open to NKBA supported/endorsed programs only.
Additional details
- Professional photography is highly recommended. GE may require professional photography of all first, second and third place winners for competition publicity. GE retains non-exclusive rights to all photography for future promotional, public relations and education purposes. Photos submitted with projects will not be returned. Use of image-enhancement techniques that alter photos is not permitted.
- Designer or firm name must NOT appear on any design plans, statements or photographs.
- Only one award will be presented per winning design, regardless of the number of project contributors. Awards and correspondence will include designer of record and names of all co-designers. All cash awards will be awarded only to the designer of record.
- Any designs that have been previously published in a publication are not eligible for the contest.
- GE reserves the right to disqualify a design before, during or after the contest judging. Failure to meet/observe any of the contest eligibility requirements is grounds for disqualification.
- Individuals selected to judge the contest are professionals in the design industry.

Publicity
- Winners will be announced at the NKBA's 2008 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show. Contestants will be notified the week of May 1, 2008.
- Other publicity may include catalogs, local builder shows, GE website presence and PR events scheduled by GE.
