Montana is a state known for its immense area, vast panoramic landscapes, eclectic terrains and big sky. Situated on 70 acres overlooking southcentral Montana's Yellowstone River Valley, this custom home takes advantage of 360 degrees of majestic views.
The initial program for this project was to develop a relatively open floor plan focused around the client's passion for food and entertaining. This passion was reflected with the decision to integrate luxurious GE Monogram appliances throughout the kitchen. The vision then complemented an Asian feel with more traditional Western style architecture. The result is titled "Rising Sun," a name derived from the 3/4-round clerestory windows that transition into the structure's main façade.
The flow of the home's plan evolves from the kitchen, opening up to the dining and family rooms. The floor plans have an elegant sense of simplicity and openness while maintaining the dominant views of the distant mountainscapes and city lights. The Japanese architectural style of "minimalism" is present throughout the home, as the spaces include a balance of simple proportions, rich textures and natural light.
By encapsulating natural beauty and aesthetically-pleasing architecture, "Rising Sun" is a project that truly reflects why people desire to build homes in Montana.
